Staff and Leadership
Revd Mike Shrubsole, Minister
Mike has been the Minister of Trinity United Church for over seven years. He has gained experience ministering in other churches around the country, but is now pleased to be back in the New Forest area, a part of the country he considers home, and much loves and enjoys.
Mike is married to Louise, who is also active in ministry with Mike, (see her entry for further information).
Mike and Louise have two grown up sons.
Mike is a United Reformed Church minister but enjoys working in an ecumenical setting with shared Methodist and URC concerns.
Mike has pastoral charge of four different churches and uses half of his time to support Trinity United Church.
Mike's personal passion in church life is to encourage church concern for environmental issues in general and climate change in particular.
He serves the wider United Reformed Church as a Green Apostle (or 'Environmental Encourager') for the Wessex Synod, and as convener of the national group of all the Green Apostles.
Mrs Louise Shrubsole, Pastoral Assistant
Louise has been working in this role for five years, supporting Revd Mike Shrubsole with his responsibility for the people of his four churches. Louise finds herself hospital visiting, home visiting, leading worship in Residential Homes and supporting church based groups.
All these are about people, and the opportunity to get alongside folk in all situations that life brings.
Louise often cites the words from Ecclesiastes chapter 3 - 'a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to be silent and a time to speak ...'
Louise sees it as a privilege to do this work.
Louise is grateful to the strong pastoral support network in all of the churches.
Louise and Mike have two grown up boys both working and living in London.
In her spare time Louise enjoys her garden, making it as colourful as possible and a place to relax.
She enjoys exploring the New Forest. Louise was a former primary school teacher.
Jackie Burgess, Children and Families Worker
Jackie is a former teacher and has worked with families for many years.
She is originally a northerner but has been within the Hampshire/Surrey area for many years.
She has two grown up children.
Jackie enjoys rugby, walking, sewing and other creative crafts and loves to travel to explore new places.
Jackie is keen to meet new families and hopes to support them in settling into the Church family and community.
Alan Ball, Manager of the Centres.
A former full time professional youth worker for over 30 years.
A large portion of his time as a youth worker was spent managing buildings,
staff and budgets so he is well experienced for his role at Trinity United Church.
Alan is a keen church worship and folk musician. He sings, plays guitar, blues harmonica and various percussion instruments.
Alan has 3 grown up children and has been married to his wife, Angela, for 30 years.
His home church is United Church Ferndown where he is an active member of the worship and youth teams.
In 2021 he became a grandfather for the first time. Something he is thrilled about.
He is passionate about building the community of faith and social action projects like the foodbank.
He is always on the lookout to develop links between the church and the local community.
So, if you have an idea how you would like to help do that please contact Alan to discuss it with him.
