Poulner Players is a small, friendly and enthusiastic amateur dramatics society based in Poulner, Ringwood on the edge of the New Forest. We produce three shows each year: a musical play or pantomime in February, a play in May/June and a studio production in August. In addition to our productions we have an active social calendar with pub nights, barbecues, after-show parties as well as a regular play reading group.
Since 2004 we have actively worked to help our members and those from other local societies with professionally led courses on all aspects of theatre, including Directing, Set Design, Acting, Make-Up and Stage Lighting.
We boast a strong production team with extensive experience in sound, lighting, construction and property-making. Many younger members have learnt their skills from working alongside our older members and we are proud of what can be achieved working in a small, multi-purpose church hall.
We are open to all ages, including young people from the age of ten upwards with opportunities both on and off stage. We often enter a float in the Ringwood Carnival procession which takes place the third Saturday in September and have won several prizes! Planning for this takes place in the summer, with the major build/costuming happening in early September.
The society has a firm policy to select a local charity each year. Together with local sponsorships, Poulner Players has now donated over £35,000 in support of local charities.
