As we journey through the lectionary year we are now in the longest period of lectionary time in-between the end of the Easter season and the start of the Advent season. Different versions of the lectionary identify and number the Sundays in this long period as 'Ordinary' or 'Proper' or simply 'After Pentecost'.

In recent times there is a modern variation (which I like) which adds a new lectionary season called Creation Time for the five Sundays after the beginning of September, which gives an environmental theme to the Sundays nearest to Harvest.

But for now, the lectionary Sundays encourage us to think about the ordinary, everyday task of following Jesus as faithful disciples as part of our ordinary routine of life and faith.
